Terms of Use

Plain language, no surprises. These terms describe the product that actually exists today — a way for diners to agree to eat together at a public restaurant.

1. What ToShareAMeal is

ToShareAMeal is a coordination tool. We help people agree to eat together at a public restaurant at a stated time. We are not a restaurant, a booking service, a payment processor, a travel service or an event organiser. We do not employ, contract or supervise the people you meet.

2. Who can use it

You must be 18 or over and confirm that when you first take part in a table. You must give accurate information, use one account, and not use ToShareAMeal on behalf of someone else. We may restrict or remove an account that breaks these terms.

3. Taking a seat is a real commitment

Adding yourself to a table means you intend to attend. There is no “maybe”. If your plans change, leave the table so the seat can be filled by someone else. Repeatedly taking seats and not turning up may lead to your account being restricted.

4. Reservations

We do not make or hold restaurant reservations. If a diner volunteers to arrange one, that arrangement is between them and the restaurant. Anything recorded on the table page is what a diner typed in, not a confirmation from us or the venue. Deposits, cancellation charges and no-show fees are entirely between you and the restaurant.

5. Money

ToShareAMeal takes no payment for meals and holds no money. Diners pay the restaurant directly. The payment arrangement shown on a table (for example paying your own way) is an understanding between diners, not a contract we enforce or underwrite. We do not process refunds because we never take a payment.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to display it inside the product so tables work — titles and descriptions publicly, table chat only to the diners at that table. Do not post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, deceptive, commercial or anyone else's personal information.

7. Moderation

We review reports by hand. We may hide or cancel a table, restrict an account, or refuse service where we believe these terms or our table conduct rules have been broken. We do not run background checks, identity verification, or criminal-record screening on anyone, and we do not vouch for any diner or venue.

8. No guarantee

ToShareAMeal is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that a table will fill, that other diners will attend, that a restaurant will be open or able to seat you, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Meeting people you do not know carries risk that we cannot remove.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ToShareAMeal is not liable for what happens at or around a meal, for the conduct of other diners, or for anything a restaurant does or fails to do. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Ending your use

You may stop using ToShareAMeal at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end access where these terms are broken or where we believe it is needed to keep people safe.

11. Changes

As the product changes, these terms will change with it. We will show the date of the current version at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell people who have an account.
