Safety (NYC)
ToShareAMeal is designed to reduce risk and social pressure. These rules are part of the product.
Non‑negotiables
- Public restaurants only. No private locations.
- No private messaging. Meet at the restaurant at the listed time.
- Not a dating app. No flirting pressure. No pushing contact info.
- AA split by default. Payment issues can be reported privately.
Safety
ToShareAMeal provides in-platform messaging for event coordination. We recommend keeping coordination on-platform until after your meal.
Sharing personal contact info (phone, email, social handles) is optional and at your own discretion.
Off-platform communication
ToShareAMeal does not verify, monitor, or control communications that occur outside of the platform. Users are solely responsible for any interactions, agreements, or conduct that occur off-platform.
Report concerns
If anything feels unsafe or inappropriate, stop engagement and report the user/event. We may restrict or remove accounts that violate platform rules.
Group-first design
Most meals are 3–4 people. This lowers pressure and increases comfort.
Two-person meals may appear when availability is low, with stricter enforcement and required post-meal check-in.
Private feedback (no public people ratings)
Restaurant experiences may be rated publicly. Feedback about people is private and used to identify patterns.
- Boundary issues / uncomfortable behavior
- Payment issues (didn’t pay / AA not respected)
- No-shows
Repeated violations may lead to restrictions or removal.
If you want to leave
Leaving is always allowed. Explaining is never required.
Afterward, you can submit a private check-in. The other person is not notified.
